Barkalarr
In trying to dismantle my shocks so I can clean them up, I've managed to use too much brute force and cracked the outer aluminium casing.Does anyone have any cheap rear shocks for an S3 ? simonpa
What do you mean by 'outer aluminium casing'? Is this the shock body, or the spring seat adjuster?I have a set of new shocks to go on my S3 (all round). I was going to wait until the winter to sort, but can bring it forward to the weekend.Current rears work fine.whereabouts are you?Cheers - Simon
Barkalarr
Hi Simon, I'm 15 mins from Stansted. I've completely totalled the shocks - one of them is good for nothing ! Ive managed to salvage spring, collars and spring seats. The shock body is totalled on one of them and I've managed to bend the top eye of the shock when I struck it with a hammer in a fit of rage !!i

Barkalarr
Doh ! Indeed !thats just the half of it.... I decided to take all the wishbones apart to blast and powder coat - totally stuffed up the spherical joints in trying to remove them.... It will be spotless when I've finished.
