Peter Mears
After having electrical problems and also a dead battery recently ( It was 15 years old ) I would like to get to grips with using a meter. Can anyone recommend a multimeter for jobs like testing continuity, 12v supply and also charging volts from alternator. LesG
Pretty much any multimeter will suffice for such basic testing, just make sure the buzzer is loud enough for continuity testing
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 20, 2015 Member Share Posted June 20, 2015 Agreed.I recommend the Draper 60792. And treat yourself to an additional pair of leads with croc clips.Jonathan
Titanium7
So cheap these days it's worth getting both a digital one and an analogue one.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 20, 2015 Member Share Posted June 20, 2015 When would you use an analogue meter? I've got my old lab imitation AVO in the garage and I don't think it will ever be used in anger again...JonathanPS: What I'd really like is an HT tester module... and an oscilloscope. Titanium7
Much easier to watch the voltage drop on the battery for instance when starting. Also I'm a bit of a Luddite being brought up on a traditional AVO Jonathan.
