Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 6, 2015 Member Share Posted June 6, 2015 Clean with whatever.Isopropanol, wipes are convenient.Warm the adhesive pad.Jonathan
Titanium7
I've always used meths or acetone.I have found the resin and mesh kits are far superior to the double sided sticky pads
SM25T
Meths for me .... hic. Warm screen before attaching mirror. If using loose glass pads .... green side to glass from memory.
Ian B
Thanks chaps.Just checked the drinks cabinet and seem to be out of Meths, so used White Spirit instead. Will see if it stays on in the morning during the run down to Goodwood!
SM25T
Oh. Normally use meths to remove the residue from White Spirit. Should have used your nail varnish remover rather than WS.
Ian B
Have run out of that as well Ian - need to stock up the make-up cupboard as well
Titanium7
White spirits no good Ian, leaves a residue. Nail polish remover if you use it

thompster
Brake cleaner - about £1.50 a can from eurocarparts if you order online for collection.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 7, 2015 Member Share Posted June 7, 2015 There's no need for anything as fierce as brake cleaner (which is actually completely different stuff from different suppliers), acetone (which is a common constituent of brake cleaner), nail varnish remover (which is either acetone or not) petrol or naphtha. You're only trying to remove any grease left after cleaning the screen.Jonathan
Harry Flatters
Ian, I've got loads of brake cleaner, if you need some.
