LouisFeakes
I'm looking to fit a map pocket similar to this: (http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/14-wire-frame-storage-pocket) to the outside face of the passenger footwell.I have a 2012 Supersport and am wondering if there is anything behind the inner skin I need to worry about before drilling and fixing. I suspect not but am after a little reassurance please.Thank you,Louis
Nigel R300
The panel are aluminium so you do not need to drill a pilot hole just use self tapping screws and a cordless drill/driver there is nothing to worry about behind the skin
SM25T
Just don't go through the outer skin too !!
LouisFeakes
Thanks Nigel
Nigel R300
As sm25t says check the length of the screws first
johnpbransfield
Soft bits for Sevens do one which is attached with strong Velcro and good quality.
Wrightpayne
pretty sure there are some diagonal brace chassis tubes behind some of the panels which you wouldnt want to hit.
Jonathan Kay
There's a trick with a magnet for locating hidden tubes*. Jonathan* Cue pun about coming over here and finding our poles...
Stridey
My car had a map pocket fitted just where you say, now stuffed full of hi vis, torch, pen and first aid kit...The previous owner also fitted one between the seats on the bulkhead, advantage being you can reach it strapped in. Nillbymouth
I fitted one of thesehttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARAVAN-MOTORHOME-ELASTICATED-STORAGE-NET-MAGAZINE-NET-/141584843658?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20f71d438ato the tunnel side of the pasenger footwell. There are frame tubes but you can remove the tunnel top to see where they are before you drill. The pocket is cheaper than the one you show and I think looks neater due to the black plastic surround
SM25T
There are also cables and brake and fuel hoses in the tunnel. Definitely remove tunnel top before drilling if going that side !!
Nillbymouth
that is why I did it into the tunnel side - because I could see where the drill was going. The outside of the footwell I had no idea of what I'd be drilling into
Gregs79
This is exactly what I plan to do on mine. I bought 2 from Caterham having had a look around as they are decent size, self tapping screws and tidy finishing kit too. Although out of stock on the website, call them as they were available when I called!http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=4278
LouisFeakes
Gregs79,What are the dimensions of the ones from Caterham please? All the ones I've found so far are about twice the size I'm after.Cheers, Louis
