jpotter
Oh how spangly the new carbon fibre goodies look, now the daunting task for a technical clutz like me, can you help ? 1. What's the best ways to remove the pop rivets out ? Just drill the heads off and listen to the rest rattle in the chassis tubes ? 2. What's the best way to re afix the internal trim panels ? Self tappers (if so what size ?) ? Velcro ? Any other ideas ? 3. Any tips or tricks for fitting the aero screen and mirrors ? Anybody else done this yet ? James Soon to be flies in teeth ! Peter Carmichael
Drilling pop rivets. Start with a drill to open up the hole and as soon as you hit the stub of the mandrel stop. Give it a sharp tap with a centre punch and a hammer and then continue drilling through. Let the end of the rivet drop off inside the tube and don't worry about it until the chassis sounds like maraccas. Internal trim panels? Who needs 'em. Pretend you have a Superlight and don't refit them.
jpotter
If I don't refit the internal panels will it stil be "relatively" water tight ? I drive this all year all weathers, will it be ok or will I need to buy fish for my footwell pond ? James
robmar
I do not think the internal panels will have any effect on the amount of water that comes in my superlight doesn't have the panels and that is the last place the water comes in , especially if driving in the rain all the suplerights and r's do not have this panneling I believe
Big Brother
Which panels are we talking about here? Are they the ones that sit between the dash and the sides of the car - or - the ones along the side of your right leg (rhd) - (from your toes to your hips) If its the later, are there any photo's online that show what it looks like?
