mark7
Hi,Forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong forum - it's my first post! Can anyone recommend a make and model of tyre that is suitable for all weather road use and is sensible for a new 7 driver? Thanks Mark
Member Jonathan Kay Posted May 22, 2015 Member Share Posted May 22, 2015 Welcome. Please could you tell us what size wheels. (Some are only available in certain sizes. And read the archives with care: there have been some recent changes in what ranges are available.)Jonathan (now on A021Rs)

SM25T
If you have 15" wheels .... I like the Toyo T1R ..... proper tread depth ... disperses rain a treat. Welcome to BlatChat.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted May 22, 2015 Area Representative Share Posted May 22, 2015 I use T1R on 15s for the 21. For the Seven I have been using Yokohama AO21R (on 13" rims) but it looks like I will need an alternative next time around (shame)
mark7
I was thinking of keeping the current wheels and tyres for track use so I it gives me options to buy any wheel and tyre combination. Thanks for the welcome!Mark
Member Jonathan Kay Posted May 22, 2015 Member Share Posted May 22, 2015 I'd look asap for some A021Rs while they can still be bought for legal use on the road. And have a look at this thread.JonathanPS: Where are you, please?

twincamtim
I've opted for A021Rs for the summer months and Uniroyal Rainexperts for the other 10 months of the year. Still driving on the latter this year....and they have served me well so far, with no 'incidents' in the wet/damp conditions we see occasionally here in Manchester. Gnockoff
Nobody has mentioned Avon CR500 and the new Avon ZZS which were developed for Caterhams.Brian
6speedmanual
The CR500 developed for and with Caterham. The ZZR/ZZS designed by Avon for a much wider general range of trackday weaponary sportscars tintops etc...
mark7
Thanks for the feedback, I shall look into your suggestions. I picked up my first 7 last Sunday (driving it home in drizzle) and I can't keep the smile off my face! It's currently running Toyo 888s by the way. Roadsport06
I have R888 and these have more grip than the ZV3 in the wet. The car is light so grip is poor in the wet so whatever tyre you need to be cautious.
6speedmanual
Most tyres have more grip than ZV3 in the wet. They also have very stiff carcass construction which is utterly at odds with the requirements of a light car. The movement of the centre of pressure of the contact patch introduces many issues, even on a heavy Mercedes!
elie boone
I am very happy with the Avon CR 28 Sport tyre for road use.
