elie boone
Nothing to do with me but these mirrors look good http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Caterham-Mirrors-Aero-Race-Pair-Matt-Black-billet-aluminium-immediate-dispatch-/271856888661?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3ACaterham&hash=item3f4beeeb55
Area Representative Nick Bassett Posted May 15, 2015 Area Representative Share Posted May 15, 2015 They do indeed look good and finished much nicer than the crappy ones Caterham supply.Hmmm... quite tempted I have to say. I suppose they could be used with the existing sidescreens.Anyone else bought/using these?
tomwood
Yup I bought some of these a week ago and fitted them for last weekends Dunsfold outing. They are excellent and I have no regrets. For £29 they are a total bargain.because they are small they don't vibrate nearly as much as the Caterham standard mirrors so you can actually see behind you when driving which is a bonus!easy fit, just drill an 8mm hole through the side of the windscreen mount and then use the supplied fixings to mount. 30 mins to do both sides.despite their small size I'd say the field of view is better than the standard mirrors (wider field of view).ill see if I can get some pics up
LouisFeakes
I saw these the other week.I'm a little nervous drilling the stanchions though. They do look smart.
SM25T
Undo and remove the three screws that attach the screen to the stanchion. The stanchion will spring away a little. Put a bit of wood between stanchion and screen, then drill. Ensure any studs or bolts do not protrude beyond the 5mm thick stanchion to contact the screen once reattached. elie boone
It should not be difficult to fabricate a bolt that fix the screen and that fix the mirror so that u don't have to drill a new hole in the stanchion.edited to say that using the screen bolt the mirror might be too high
scuderia geordie
I thought for £30 they where worth a try.Easy to fit, Look good, large field of view and no vibrationwell pleased
olly_h
Tom, have you tried these with the doors on? And the door does not obscure the view at all? Also do they allow the door to be opened to a resting point i.e. Beyond 90 degrees? Thanks, Olly
tomwood
Sorry all, totally forgot to update with some pics. This should hopefully answer most people's questions.i drilled some new holes in the side of the screen. Protected the metal with some tape and gradually worked up to an 8mm hole. I picked the one place where there's actually space to allow the screen to be drilled in situ. This also happens to mean the mirrors end up at near enough perfect height once fitted.https://carousel.dropbox.com/photos/cc/z79B2NjSKzRKlMLhttps://carousel.dropbox.com/photos/cc/bKjoq6OpFIkfqScAnd here's how they look on the car:https://carousel.dropbox.com/photos/cc/a9KCj7pzkHM7s0whttps://carousel.dropbox.com/photos/cc/E4V7bOlUsqPbJXZyou can open the door more than 90 degrees before hitting the mirror. Also because they are small and quite rigid they don't get knocked out of alignment nearly as easily as the standard mirrors. For me they are a big improvement.Tom
elie boone
Looks so much better than the originals, it should be std fitment even if you mount them on the door.

Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 1, 2015 Member Share Posted June 1, 2015 It is possible to get those served images to show inline, but you need to link to the image rather than the Carousel page:Looks good.Jonathan
SM25T
I wouldn't want to mount a single bolt fixing on a door !
tomwood
Yeah I think for these to work effectively they'd need to be on the screen. You want a nice stable mounting point after all to stop the vibrations coming through the mirrors.sorry about the links, I was doing it from my phone and it was near enough impossible!Tom
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 1, 2015 Member Share Posted June 1, 2015 That's impressive from a 'phone!:-)But my inline image which was working now just shows the image icon: can anyone else still see the photo?Jonathan

elie boone
There is nothing wrong with a single mounting point on a door, i made some single mounting points mirrors for a friend they are as good as you get from a door mounted mirror. maybe because i started out with lightweight alloy bullit mirrors and made them even lighter.
