LED Indicator Relay

Hi all,

I have tried to change my normal indicator bulbs for LED bulbs. I bought a new relay that should work with normal and LED bulbs.

i replaced one rear bulb with an LED bulb and switched on the hazard lights to see the difference between and bulbs. This worked fine for about 20 seconds and then all the lights stayed on and the relay wasn't working. I took the relay out and from the smell it's clear that it's burnt something out inside.

Any idea why this might be and has anyone tried a relay that actually works properly ?

What model of relay and bulb?

I would guess that it was a duff relay rather than an effect of having different types of bulbs connected.

But see this thread for similar relay failures and that and this for recommended models.

I got an electronic flasher unit .... but the one recommended to me needed the polarity of the supply reversing .... simply reversed the wires on the back of the block Next to the fuse rail. Works fine.
