andysteele
i had to put the full hood on, as car was out over night, when taking the hood off, one of the popper bases came out of the body with the hood. It was loose any before, a riveted on one. I notice the other side has a self tapper instead of rivet. Whats the advice on re-fitting, I dont think it will re-rivet as the hole looks too big... find a fat screw that will fit?
F355GTS
Andy Whatever you use has to be below the surface of the fitting or it will stop the popper fititng on. I've some 4 or 5mm rivets that the head could be turned down that I think would hold that.
Roger Ford
You can trim the edges of rivets with a good pair of side cutters, in order to make sure they fit snugly in the well of the popper base.
andysteele
i have a pack of rivets that came with the car, I`m just not sure they will hold with the hole as its been openned up (and dont have a rivet gun).I have tried a few self tapping screws i have lying around most as too small to get any purchase on the hole or head too big for the popper base! Roger Ford
Try using a peel rivet.

andysteele
Thanks for the offer Mark, looking at the prices for a rivet gun, think I'll make the investment, I have a few to replace, and some new to fit ( have a tonneau, but no fixing in the body).looks like Roger idea of a peel rivet is the way to go for oversized hole.thanks all, Andy
Terry Field
AndyI'm some way off from you (Taunton) but I have simple but effective hand held rivet gun if you want to borrow it. But in practice, they are probably not over expensive to buy. CheersTerry

F355GTS
Roger I have to admit I've never heard of them and can think of many times they would have cured a similar problem to Andy's, I've just ordered up a selection of sizes
