Damaged cable to Xflow crank position sensor - options?

I've just traced my misfire to the fact that the wire to the CPS has been just touching the alternator fan, with obvious results!

I'm going to ty to get a replacement TPS and cable assembly from Webcon, but looking at their parts list, I may only be able to get this with a full trigger wheel and bracket assembly, which gets pretty expensive,  The other option is just to join the cut wires up again.  It looks like there is only a blue and a black wire to connect, although these are surrounded by more wire which I guess is shielding?  If I do reconnect the wires (bullet conectors?) am I likely to be leaving myself open to getting interference issues?

Cheers - Michael.

I think you may not need the sheild connection, but if you can offset the connections when you remake them you wouldn't add to much bulk and could bridge the sheild and maybe wrap it in heat shrink. I would use solder sleaves for the signal wires as they dont add much bulk once shrunk.
