TomB
Is there are tried and tested way of transporting a set of wheels on or in a 7 to a track day? Years ago I remember seeing some sort of bolt on track that went on the roll bar. Assuming that isn't an option, how could it be done safely and without damaging the car? John Vine
Well, I take the cheapskate route. I mount three wheels vertically astride the roll bar (two in between the uprights and the other to the right), strapping them securely on with a couple of ratchet straps. The fourth wheel takes the place of the regular spare. The disadvantage is that you have to rely on the side mirrors for rearward vision. If you don't have a spare-wheel carrier, you could either mount the fourth wheel on the lefthand side of the roll bar, or carry it on the pax seat. (I've done both at various times.) JV
TomB
Thanks John, I guess you unfasten the boot cover so the wheels rest inside the boot? Lower down and desnt damage the boot cover?
John Vine
I leave the cover poppered down as normal. By the time I've filled the boot with toolbox, assorted other tools, jack, car cover, spares, fluids, warning triangle etc, I find the wheels (15") sit snugly on top without damaging the cover at all.JV

Garth
Or this... wheels or luggage or a combination?
Myles
I had this made many years ago. http://alcester-racing-sevens.com/Wheel_rack_in_black_1.JPGThe advantage was that you didn't need a complete set of wheels for them to be transported safely - there was a potential disadvantage (with the prototype at least) that large diameter tyre sets wouldn't fit neatly side by side.ive still got it!Do bear in mind that any high mounted tyre rack will cause quite severe pitch changes due to both wind resistance and cofg under braking. These days, I take a support car instead!
