Stridey
ok, so I've got a spare wheel, but no jack. Any suggestions on make and size?, Also where to store. Quite happy to put in boot, but any other clever places?
AndrewB
I was given advice by the LADS to put the jack under the nose cone. I got the bag and jack from Caterham but I think the jack is a common type which you could get from clarke or others. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zrqOaLxYUw8/U4CwrnIOjvI/AAAAAAAAAww/BF3I6__ck30/s1600/sm-DSCF1737.jpgAndrew
Jonathan Kay
Here's how I did mine, copying a photo which was in the archives.: Find a nice place for the jack (mine's a factory scissor jack but this should work with others) on the horizontal section of aluminium in front of the heater. Drill through the base plate of the jack. Drill through the aluminium section. Put rubber well nuts in the section from above, and machine screws down through the holes in the jack into those nuts.Jonathan
John Vine
Did you mean something other than the Caterham one? (They even supply a neat bag to store it in.)AFAIK, it's a Metro jack, so you could check ebay or a scrappy. I guess pretty well any lightweight scissor jack would do the job (preferably one with a notch in the saddle).JV
Stridey
Schoolboy error. Jack was in neat bag under the tonneau, tucked in the boot. Doh!
Red Line Components
Watch out for it sliding around in the boot and denting the aluminium. I have an old small suitcase wedged in the boot to contain stuff.
