Roody262
My '98 Supersport has a set of the older 4pot calipers on the front, am I right in saying the mintex pattern number for the pads is MDB1864? The calipers don't have the retaining pins for the pads.
F355GTS
I think theyre MDB1200

Pendennis
I thought I had a set of early AP 4 pots, but after doing some research with Dave K of DT I am not convinced. Did Caterham use more than two AP variants. Not sure this helps but mine which are definitely not the younger ones are model CP5100 and they use Ferodo FRP219 pad pattern, hope this helps and good luck
Roody262
I've taken the pads back out of the calipers and measured them, I am confident now they are the MDB1200 pads having compared the 2 models. Will get some ordered. Thanks for the help
Pendennis
This proves that anyone ordering brake pads should always refer to their AP model number starting CP.....
F355GTS
Ian think im right in saying there are 3 types of lge Caliper, think yours must be the 2nd type which were quite short lived

Roody262
The number stamped on my calipers in CP 3344, do AP have a cross reference chart on their website or elsewhere? It seems theres a lot of confusion, maybe Caterham have used more different caliper models through the years than expected?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted March 19, 2015 Member Share Posted March 19, 2015 A chart of callipers and pad types that includes CP3344.Jonathan
Roody262
Is there a possibilty that the 2 different pads would fit that same calipers? The pads ive taken out are definitly MDB1200 but by the looks of things the MDB1864 would also fit?
Simon.Rogers
My understanding is that there are only 2 types of caliper. However there is more than one pad pattern that fits the earlier version. over the past 5 years all my customers have received the patterns stated above with zero issue. A number of them have comented that the replacement pattern did have a larger contact area = it is a larger pad than the other patterns that have been used. To get to where i have i trawled the archives of old BC and spoke with AP cross refrenced and cross checked. I doubt there is only one answer though. Pendennis
My previous Cat was a 97 SLR and that had different calipers to what I have now. I've just gone back through my paperwork and that had CP2340 calipers. Blimey what a mind field! Simon, occasionally on a hot day during a long race I have overheated my rear brakes, without going vented on the rear is there a pad that would help ? Note currently use Ds2500
Simon.Rogers
DS3000 - I think it will bring a better balance also. The rear is so under braked compared to the big AP fronts.3000's work at a higher temp.DS1.11 have more initial bite when cold but do not peak - flat "curve" for friction/heat. May be an option.

Jon Stewart
I've also got the CP2340 type caliper and use the DS3000 FRP218R pad type.
Pendennis
Hi Simon, can you send me a message for a set of Ferodo DS2500 FRP219H for the front and for the rear I was using DS2500 FCP825H but I want these now in DS3000
mav
There are 3 iterations of the caterham AP calipers, if memory serves. the first 2 use MDB1200 shape pads or those from other manufacturers for the CP2340 Caliper. The latest version uses a different pad shape, the details of which are in a previous thread.
