Gregs79
All,Some of you may have seen my post about the rear pads. I have spoken with Mintex and have been assured that they are the thickness that they should be!Has anyone ever had pads 'skimmed' / taken back so that they fit within the caliper? If so where did you go to get it done?Any ideas would be gratefully recevied.Kind regardsGregs

timbo
Sierra rear calipers? If so have you made sure the piston lug recess align correctly with the abutment on the pad? Also have you wound back the piston?

richy
Yes, I've had to 'skim' them in the past. Put coarse emery cloth on a flat surface and rub the pad over it. There'll be someone out there who knows of a reason not to do this, but it worked for me.
oldbutnotslow
These pads should fit straight out of the box. There souldnt be any need to "shave them down".As mentioned, the piston needs to be wound right back in with a wind back tool that puts pressure on the piston. It wont go all the way back in if you are just twisting it. Make sure ther the cross on the piston face is verticle / horizontalAlso check that the handbrake isnt over adjusted and ther there is at least 3 clicks on the lever. Gregs79
Brakes all sorted after removing the handbrake completely and using all the info above! Thanks for everyone's input. :-)
