Anthony Micallef
I've got a 1.6 Supersport that won't start. Can anyone tell me the reason why the Caterham manual says that I'm not alowed to push start it? The Happy 7 Owner 😬 😬 😬
darren f
No idea why not, but having been to two of Caterham's own track days, I would say that push starting is an accepted practice on Sevens *eek* . Health and Safety reasons perhaps? (Caterham heading off any legal action that would ensue when somebody runs themselves over 🤔)
scooby dooby doo
i've push started loads of caterhams, doesn't seem to do any harm. I've seen reverse, 1st and 2nd used for it. 2nd is probably best to prevent a shock in the transmission. HOOPY 500 kg R706KGU
sjwb
I believe that it's to do with the possibility of a backfire (misfire) upon starting - it tends to BLOW catalysts apart *eek* *eek* Steve B
alicat
Actually I believe the problem is with unburnt fuel getting into the catalyst ☹️ Alicat
darren f
Ahhh yes, that makes sense These catalysts dont need much to do them in do they?
scooby dooby doo
ah ❗ No catalyst on my car 😬 HOOPY 500 kg R706KGU
Joe 90
I've certainly push started mine many times, but also no catalyst. Having a steep drive makes it easy. 99,000 miles so far
