Stack fuel - entering calibration mode

Got a shiny new tank and with the car having a Stack8130 - I set about the calibration process.

I have donwloaded the manual from Stack website.

I have added my 4 litre 'reserve' and then, as the good book, says tried to enter calibration mode - which should be buttons 1&2 together (left to right)

At this stage dash should read:

Tank Qty          0L

Reading        255

However when pressing buttons 1&2 I get following display:

Stack 800      V5.10

ST8130KMP    11/09/02

I'm pretty convinced buttons are wired 1-4 left to right because 3rd button from left changes the display layer - confirmed by the manual

any advice gratefully received*banghead*

Just looked at the manual and it says hold down 1 and then press 2. The resulting screen does apparently give the Reading as 255 as you have described.

Could the buttons have been wired out of sequence?  I know mine has button 3 and 4 reversed.

Probably not much help but:

I'm going back a few years now but I did the recalibration using the Stack manual without any issues at all.  I also remember discovering that my buttons hadn't been wired in sequence as you'd expect, this was discovered before I calibrated the Stack.

I'd check the buttons are as they should be before starting the calibration.
