Mavic82
The wipac unit is what I use, I understand it is intended for land rovers and for trailers that have regular bulbs. The adjuster is for correcting the flash speed on the trailer.certainly has no effect on my car.
AntonyH
Thanks both, you've both referenced the same unit from the same seller, which is a good sign. Should be here today or tomorrow, post allowing.
AntonyH
Wow. Paid for @ 15:13 yesterday, arrived this morning. To be fitted at lunchtime...
AntonyH
Fitted, working, hurrah! Fingers crossed it keeps doing exactly that...As above, the adjuster has no effect on the car's indicators' flash rate.
Grant_7
Well this thread has inspired me to purchase one of these Wipac relays. This should now allow me to use my LED rear indicators
Mavic82
Good luck Grant, it is a slippery slope...
Grant_7
Well the relay arrived on Friday however I'm just back from a weekend away. Anyway Wife is doing some chores so I popped out to the garage, fitted my LED indicators and checked them with the old relay. Sure enough the blinker speed is much higher, so popped out the old relay and the new one in.Voila! It works
Grant_7
Further to this I've now ordered some LED front indicators (I already have LED side repeators). So now I'll have the LED whole hog
AntonyH
Happy to report the Wipac flasher is still working after nearly 200 miles (woo...) so it's already out-performed the previous eBay special!
Grant_7
Glad to hear it I've now fitted front LED indicators, so I'm indicating in an LED fashion all round now (also my side lights, rear lights, brake lights and number plate lamps are all LED too). I've attached a little vid showing the LED front indicators compared with the standard filament items:

NedK
Can anyone tell me if using aftermarket bulbs has any effect on the IVA inspection? I've been following the discussion on improving lights, and it makes sense to do this during the initial build, if possible.ThanksNed
AntonyH
Some LEDs are not E-marked, so I'd guess that if you have a picky inspector who took the lenses off, they might complain.
simonpa
Looks like the 581 is amber and the 382 is white (as it can be used for stop/reverse)?
