paulmaley
Hi, I’m looking for a place where I can buy the male-side of the plug that connects to the heater switch on the wiring loom of a 1.6 Sigma car.I’m told on cars that don't have a heater that it is left attached to the steering column and isn’t plugged in and hence you can run a 12v supply from the same plug.My question is where can I buy the male side of the plug? I don't want to change the plug completely in case I want to install a heater laterAny feedback appreciated.
SM25T
PoleVolt sell a big range of vehicle connectors. Have a look at their website.
progers
Hi I have the same plug on mine (and no heater) so this sounds promising. Very interested to hear how you get on with this and in turn I will post here if I make any progress in the meantime.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted January 13, 2015 Member Share Posted January 13, 2015 If you can't identify it from Polevolt or similar I suggest you post a photo of the other half. IIRC someone here can recognise these things by eye.Jonathan
revilla
If this one from Caterhamparts is the one on the loom:http://caterhamparts.co.uk/img/p/1301-1301-large.jpgThen it looks very much like the one listed as MCF4 here from Polevolt:http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/MCF4-195.jpgIn which case the corresponding male would be the one listed as MCM4:http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/MCM4-195.jpgWhich does indeed look a bit like the one the heater shown on Caterhamparts:http://caterhamparts.co.uk/img/p/1033-1033-thickbox.jpg(Well actually that one is for a CSR but I'm guessing they used the same plug and it's hard to see it in the picture of the non-CSR heater, although the bits you can see do look to be the same):http://caterhamparts.co.uk/img/p/329-329-thickbox.jpgNot 100% sure but looks promising? John Vine
The CC stock-keeping unit (SKU) code for the connector in revilla's very helpful post is MWP4. This could well come from here (try searching on MWP4). The matching connector is MWS4. (It appears Polevolt and Ripca go in for a bit of gender-swapping.)JV
revilla
@JV - Ah, I did search for the CC SKU code but missed that one! Well spotted. I think they're actually the same as the polevolt ones from the pictures but probably a safer bet given the code match.
Gnockoff
Interesting to see in the picture of the non CSR heater that the lower panel is the wrong way up. It should be as the CSR pic and have the two outer protrusions (for want of a better word) pointing downwards. This allows hot air into the foot wells. When I bought my new heater it came as per picture so that was the way I fitted it. It was sometime later after reading a thread on the old Blatchat that I had to dismantle and refit much to my annoyance.
