Will Superlight De Dion tube fit my car?

Dear All,

I have asked this question of Caterham but got a non-answer:

"We can't say without looking at your car"!!!

It has been suggested that I should think about replacing my De Dion tube and I have been offered a surplus superlight tube. Not sure if it will fit my car though.

I have a 1995 1.4K Supersport and the tube being offered to me is a superlight tube (was destined for an R500).

Can anyone answer this question for me?

Thanks,

Nifty.

Some of the latest de dion tubes do not have the centre hole (upper fixing) for the shorter pre 96 1/2 dampers.

The de dion in question may not be any lighter than your current one, as it probably has a larger (stronger) web at the A frame attachment.

You may also have to reset/check your rear toe and camber.

Went back to Caterham and got a more useful chap on the phone. He went away and rang me back after 10 minutes( *thumbup*) with the various things I need to check on the chassis. Turns out there are quite a number and it was a bad line so he told me to E-mail the chassis number and then they'll know exactly what the set up is and be able to give a definitive answer.

Being a '95 car this was the year that a number of changes took place and so it could go either way!!
