Notsohotcams140
Neither of My brake lights are working,Switch works and has power.Fuse is ok.Bulbs are ok. Brake lights appear to use the same earth as side lights and they work. Any ideas? Break in a cable somewhere?
LawrenceR
Neither of My brake lights have stopped workingI am not normally a pedant, so I apologise for this, but, if neither have stopped then both are working!
SM25T
When you say the switch works ... is it adjusted so that pressing the pedal allows the plunger to move far enough to actuate it. Silly question ... is ignition on for test ?
Notsohotcams140
Yes I tested the switch with a volt meter on and off with the ignition on.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted January 2, 2015 Member Share Posted January 2, 2015 I'd suspect bad earths and/or bad connections in the bulb holder. I'd trace those with the meter looking for 12V at the feed to the bulb holder and continuity from the bulb holder to a good earth. SM25T
Bore of bulb holder and outer of bulb can corrode easily. Clean up and apply a bit of something to keep water away. WD40 or ACF50
