Pendennis
Hi all, has anyone on here used one of these instead of a HANS device? They look good and to me it appears standard rear harness positions do not require modification.http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/hans-devices/simpson-hybrid-pro-rage-head-neck-restraint
Support Team Shaun_E Posted December 4, 2014 Support Team Share Posted December 4, 2014 I've not used one but Simon @Meteor was looking at them in detail a couple of years ago so might have some more info. I had a look and tried them on at Autosport last year but the people manning the stand were more interested in chatting up the stand girls than actually helping a potential customer so we left. I'm quite interested in them as they don't need any modifications to belts/seats/etc. and they allegedly provide some protection in side impacts as well as frontal impacts. Roger Ford
I was interested, but I thought the mounts would need modifying. Why do you think they don't?The installation guide says "2 - 3 inches" between mounts. The Simpson Hybrid is more than twice the price of the least expensive HANS system, but if the car didn't need to be modified it would probably save that much, as well as avoiding a trip to Arch. Pendennis
I haven't seen that Roger.I couldn't find anywhere anything to say its mandatory to modify harness points, the other reason why I didn't believe they need modification was because it doesn't have the chest braces that run underneath the harness's on the HANS device.Referring to the bottom right figure I can see clearly now the rain has come*bow*
