Nigel Riches
Good evening gentlemen. What initial ignition advance are people using for a road going 2l blacktop zetec powered 7. Jenvey 45 tbs. Standard cams. I have, how shall I say it, mucked mine up, too much to fiddle with and not enough paying attention. The engine runs at the moment @ 16 deg, from programming with the Emerald K3, however I have a vague recollection of a figure of 17.38 but the increments available from the K3 are 0.5 deg. So that may be total crap. Any pointers gratefully received. Regards, Nigel.
Nigel Riches
What, 26 views and no responses, surely not a question to defeat the collective tech knowledge of Blatchat. I will have to send another email to Emerald, see if they have the original set up on file, and remember not to muck around with the stuff I don't understand at this time. Anyway, thanks to those who did view. Regards, Nigel.
elie boone
On a 2.0 Zetec i have the advance starting fron 10 degrees to 40 degrees, i will hook up the laptop to have a more detailed report, i have to say it's not on a Emerald and the cams may be not std ( 190 bhp )
Nigel Riches
Thanks Elie, I'm only needing the initial static advance, on the Emerald there is a field under ecu configuration where this can be set, so using the old "not less than 10, not more than 20" should be somewhere near. CaterBram
Whilst on Megajolt running on carbs, this might give you some basic info.
Birkin S3 ZA.
I remember mine with the Webcon pro 4 system was 16 deg at 1000 rpm but only 5 deg at cranking speed.max advance was 26 deg max at 100% and 6000 rpm it did run 12:1 compression and had a fast burn rate so ran a few deg less than a lower compression motor would.Chris
Nigel Riches
Thank you gentleman. When I get the engine back in the car and have it running again, without the awful squealing noise from the clutch, fixed that, I hope, I will have a look at the timing again, it did seem to go ok as set, but there may be a better setting.May have to buy a new timing light and do some checks, Happy daze.
