barry.h
Help!! The sleeve that goes around the cap head bolt that acts as the bottom front damper mounting point seems to be a very sloppy fit around that bolt. The o/d of the bolt is 7.8mm while the i/d of the sleeve is 9.6mm. Both of these are brand new from Caterham. Can someone tell me please if this is a design feature or a design fault? Thanks, Barry
Lawrence_Z
The spare new ones I have here I have just measured as 7.85mm ID and are a nice fit Lawrence
Graham Perry
Is the sleeve needed because the bolt is thinner than the lower damper mounting ? Whats it made of metal or Teflon ? Just realised I need some myself on my later model lower wishbone conversion. Will make my own
fordy
I am just fitting the freestyle kit and they supply these sleeves with the kit. They are aluminium I think. The o.d. of the bolt is indeed thinner than the i.d. od the lower damper bush, hence the sleeve. Dunno what the sizes are.
barry.h
Thanks Lawrence. Problem solved. Caterham had supplied upper damper sleeves (which have a bigger i/d) instead of lower sleeves. What is now puzzling is that upper sleeves are longer than the lower ones - but the ones they supplied me are not *confused* Hey ho.
