Ian B
As the title says. Some (not all) new threads in Chitchat (maybe other fora as well) don't appear in the "New & Updated" tab.
Jonathan Kay
Is the problem only with threads that you have updated. or does it occur with others? Thanks. Jonathan
Ian B
Not just mine. I don't see your "Jared Diamond" thread in New & Updated either; however, I do see "Leather Seats for an SV" - both of which have had no replies at this point so it doesn't seem to be related to that I'm afraid I just have no confidence that I'm seeing all threads
Jonathan Kay
Thanks: what does it say on the pull down menu on the L? I'm now working around the problems by keeping three tabs open: "ChitChat/ Last updated = This month" "TechTalk/ Last updated= This month" "Any/ New and Updated/ This month".Jonathan

Blokko
I'm just dipping my toe back into posting on BC after a period of "lurking". I have also noticed that the main page of ChitChat does not appear to be up to date. I presume that the problem is that F5 refreshes the browser without going back to the server to grab the latest content from the database. My hypothesis is that data is not grabbed unless you hit the "Apply" button next to the Items Per Page dropdown. Will try to test and report back.... Jonathan Kay
i'd like: Another tab for "All". Then make the layout of the returned page the same as the other page you get to by direct navigation to that forum. My own posts to appear in all views. An explanation of the definition of "New and Updated" and "Active".Jonathan
Support Team Shaun_E Posted November 6, 2014 Support Team Share Posted November 6, 2014 Ian - New and Updated = New and updated topics that you have not read. As soon as you read a topic it is removed from this view.I'm not sure whether that is a good thing or not. I am certain we could change it but it's not high on the priority list right now.Shaun
Ian B
Thanks Shaun, I guess hat could account for it - I'll take another look in a bit. With the current arrangement, it is a bit disconcerting that if you start a topic, it doesn't appear in your New & Updated topics list! Blokko
Playing around with this some more, and I've managed to get some of the posts from page 1 repeated on page 2. I'm logged into the website and I'm using the active tab to display 20 threads from the ChitChat area. Page 1 above - look at the last 5 posts.... Above we have page 2 with the first 5 posts being a repeat of page 1.I have closed an re-opened the browser, cleared out the browser cache and logged out and back in again from the club website. In each case I have seen the same behaviour as above. When I switch from 20 posts per page to 50 posts per page the above 5 posts are not repeated, and when I go onto page 2, the posts at the end of page 1 are not repeated. Not sure if it is relevant, but I came to my browser this morning from the laptop being in a hibernated state. Not sure if this has any relevance with regards to caching.Update - I logged into the same page from my Windoze fone and I'm also getting the post repeat on page 2 - which tends to suggest something server side rather than being browser driven... Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted November 28, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted November 28, 2014 Blokko I too have certainly noticed that Page 2 is not a true second page, with several over lapping threads. Initially I thought the stickies were discarded, but that is not the case. I think Page 3 does not have overlap with Page 2 but didn't pursue this. I think there are many other matters which are more urgent or important, so decided to ignore it.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted December 8, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted December 8, 2014 Today, the top of Page 2 includes the last five threads from Page 1.It seems wasteful, but I suppose it's not important.
