Thatcham immobiliser inoperative

Before the expense of calling out a specialist, has anyone any thoughts as to why my Thatcham Cat 2 immobiliser has become inoperative. I offer up the remote fob but the flashing red light remains flashing and does not go to a solid red light allowing me to start the car

  • It did work properly and now it's stopped? Any recent work nearby or battery recently disconnected?
  • Have you got the instructions for your particular model? If not please tell us which it is or add a photo of the fob.
  • Do you get any response from the light and have you tried a new battery in the fob?

Hi Jonathan, Had the car since March this year and couldn't get it insured until I could prove it had a Thatcham Cat immobiliser. I couldn't get confirmation from the previous owner so took to a specialist in Wakefield who provided me with certification to prove it was of the required standard for insurance purpuses. It has worked fine until the last few weeks where it became a bit intermittent and now has eventually stopped. From the certification I got earlier this year the immobiliser is a Sterling Touch. It does not have a battery in the fob, Cheers David
