TobyCoulson
Why does this site have to be different from every other site I use where the normal cut and paste routine works without hitch? When I go to C&P I get a message saying my browser settings don't permit the editor to automatically execute copying operations. It then says I should use some command control for that.Seems another bug that needs to be sorted.I've also put this into paragraphs but I gather there's a problem with that as well.I'm thinking of giving up with this site for now as simple operations commonly available elsewhere seem to be a labour of love here. Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 19, 2014 Author Member Share Posted October 19, 2014 I can cut and paste plain text into and out of the forum message box. (Safari, OS X). What browser and OS, and is your problem there or somewhere else on the site? Thanks. Jonathan
TobyCoulson
Windows 7 Firefox. I can copy and paste URL for links and images just not plain text for forum messages. I haven't even bothered with using any device with iOS 8. It'd probably just lose the will to live not unlike me.Also spell checker keeps reverting to American English after I've finished editing for my next post even though I keep checking British English. Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted October 19, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted October 19, 2014 See my Test Area thread. If we can not have a "Quote" or "Quoting named poster" facility, then being able to copy and paste in a couple of keystrokes is necessay.

Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted October 19, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted October 19, 2014 Command+C followed by Command+V or Control+V followed by Control+V or their right click equivalents. Same as Toby's experience. I haven't tried much this week, I have been logging on via a tablet +3G
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted October 19, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted October 19, 2014 (continued) so this limits all functionality anyway. This demands a diiferent thread (single issue threads eh?)
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 19, 2014 Author Member Share Posted October 19, 2014 Thanks. Please could as many people as possible try cutting and pasting plain text in the message box (not in one of the pop-up dialog boxes) and reporting whether it works or not, including the browser and OS.Jonathan
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted October 19, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted October 19, 2014 Jonathan My experience is that it isn't related to browser/OS. Lots of reports of "I tried it in this that or the other" is distracting and wasteful. I've tried several combinations (see my notes on the carriage return thread) and they all fail. My observation is that it is either - built into the Drupal module or - there are controls inside the module which are selectable and switched incorrectly. TobyCoulson
Cut and paste along with spell checker(not the one that comes with the forum which btw doesn't stay logged into your language of choice after you've finished editing) does work when rich text is disabled
