Crossflow - what engine oil?

Engines been recently rebuilt and i am wondering what the recommended oil is both for running in and afterwards? Its about 155 BHP.

Also, anyone have the capacity of the system.... Its dry sump with standalone tank?

Just to throw another option into the mix - I have a relatively well developed Crossflow.  Vulcan Engineering who built it advocate Valvoline racing 20W50.

And i have a Ratrace creation.......runs beatifully on Millers CTV 20w 50 compitition oil semi synthetic. Add a shot of Camshield ZDDP for good measure

Finlay, I use the Valvolene Racing oil as already mentionbed above.

Capacity will depend on how large your external tank is. Mine runs at ~6.5litres.

The D/S tank will have a recommended level at which to be run - I think just above the top baffles/de-aerator section. Remember to check level when engine ticking over as you will get some drainback into the sump when the engine is standing.

Same as Mcalvert. Valveline 20/50 racing oil was what my engine builder recommended.

Doing the same thing at the moment.

 

Runing in with Millers Comp running in oil for 500 miles and then going to the Millers semi synth 20/50.

I have spare, 10 lites of Valvoline racing 20/50 mineral oil that I used when my engine was a standard superprint engine, but was talked out of using it for an uprated semi race engine.

I can post the Miller agents details up in Wilmslow (I think) very reasonable?

 

Just make sure you crank the engine to get oil pressure before you actual fire it up for the first time.
