NedK
Amen to the safety issues. Think 'asbestos' and treat the nano-fibres with the same care.JK, do you know if there have been any incidents of malignant mesothelioma connected to carbon? Jonathan Kay
Quick thoughts: I'm not up to date with the medical aspects of lungs and fibres, although I was twice for different reasons. This would produce fragments or dust of carbon fibre rather than large amounts of carbon nanotubules. Asbestos causes at least two conditions: asbestosis and malignant mesothelioma. I didn't think any other exposure was known to cause malignant mesothelioma, but Wikipedia says that erionite does. There might have been enough exposure to worked carbon fibre for long enough for adverse effects to have shown up by now. The risk of anything inhaled causing fibrosis is probably higher than the risk of it causing malignant mesothelioma or other malignancy. So: basic precautions as widely publicised, please.JonathanPS: Links available but they'll mostly be to Wikipedia.
