techbod
I've just bought some Titon harnesses from Prima Motorsport. They have been great and very patient and accommodating various requirements. However I have a question with the cranked/angled anchor plate used for the shoulder straps. As supplied they are angled upwards, whereas the belts slope downwards to meet the underside of the headrest. See: https://www.flickr.com/photos/30324212@N04/15524903465/ The bolts holding the anchor plates aren't fully done up in that photo, when they are the plate becomes more horizontal and the angle between the 'crank' and the belt increases even more.Prima say all their belts are made this way as normally the mounting point is below the seat top. They don't do a flat anchor plate.IIRC there are other Caterham owners that have Titon harnesses from Prima, so what did they do? Use the harness as is? Is it ok like that? (I would much prefer it to be a flat plate which is more inline with the belt angle or even reverse the anchor plate so it is 'cranked' down).Any comments thoughts? Thanks(PS I have no idea why this appears as one big paragraph. 'Ive added plenty of line returns and paragraphs to try and format it nicely..) Jonathan Kay
I'll have a look at mine when I get home on Wednesday. Could you add a similar photo but with the straps fitted to your body so that we can see the routing and angles and the dependence on the height of your shoulders? The choice doesn't look safety-critical to me as the loop of the belt can rotate around the metal bar and the bend should be nowhere near weakening the plate so that it becomes the limiting factor in pure tension.Jonathan
techbod
Thanks for the reply. I'll get another photo taken wearing harness. I suppose the crux of the matter is - would this pass an SVA inspection or scrutineering like this?

Wrightpayne
Mine are the same as in you photo. I have s type seats so more of a gap between the seat and headrest. ian
techbod
Ok thanks for the replies. The old harnesses had flate plates, so I wasn't sure if cranked were ok.cheers
