OK: in Firefox, on both Mac and PC Control+C, followed by Control+V does not copy and paste text. http://www.lotus7.club/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/sad_smile.png.

That's a bu88er.

I have found that Control+C (or Command when working on a Mac) and Control+V does not work. I have dodged around this once in the past fortnight by pasting into Notebook and copying from there into my entry box. - See more at: http://www.lotus7.club/forum/test-area/copy-and-paste-test#sthash.7GqxmLgf.dpuf

OK: This might be how it is supposed to work, although it results in more clicks that the old system.

That was created using the source button. Select Source, then text from the post you wish to quote, then copy and paste. Then enter the preceeding text (to indicate from where your text has come) and the succeding text before boxing the quotation. http://www.lotus7.club/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/confused_smile.png

Is there an easier way?

It certainly allows you to quote a particular item, but is laborious compared to the

or [pQuote] we are used to using.

All the formating is nice but several items are a mystery to me. I have no idea what "separate teaser and body" means (yet but I am about to find out), nor yet IFrame and what a a Div Container is (apart from something you use for dim people (unPC, I know)). Lilkewise what Blocks can I show?

I can use the block quote, once I have used Source to copy and paste someone's text. Long way round.

If I select Boxed first I can never get out of the box (I am trying to think outside the box) but the system will not let me. http://www.lotus7.club/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/angry_smile.png

Nor can I revist and return to standard entry. I can turn it into an "Intro Paragraph" with bigger text.

You have to click the div container, hit return (there is an entry box - but for what?) then you can return to standard entry.

I am, at the moment, of the opinion that the DotNetNuke forum software is better than the Drupal one selected.

Here are screen shots of the appearance.

Our current forums look like this:

Here I am trying to attack the Quote issue.

"Reply to" is not satisfactory for several reasons.

  • If you are replying to a post, you may not be commenting upon the entirety of the post, just to particular points.
  • The post replied to may be separated from the response by several others (BlatChat being a busy forum) and scrolling back and forth is wasteful,
  • It was frequently the case that a poster would address several points, sometimes by several posters, and respond point by point, interleaving original points with their replies. This is helpful and adds clarity.

To use the "Quote" button, it appears to require text entry.

either by hand

or by copying and pasting using the "source" facility.

Silly This appears to be the closest to BC second favourite

The "source" facility is slow and inconvenient for a couple of reasons.

  • Firstly you are adding keystrokes to the chain to get in and out of the facility.
  • Secondly, the entry window changes to a code based visual appearance rather than WYSIWYG which is a shock the first time and which I would find confusing if I was trying to insert the section within a reply I had already started.
  • Thirdly, there is a reference added at the end of the portion copied, which, within a thread is a lot less useful than an opening statement "Quoting Golf Juliet Tango"

I can see that this will be a difficult item to conquer.

Friday 21 November. Working within Firefox on a Mac.

Highlight.

CMD+C, followed by CMD+V does NOT result in anything beyond a jump to the post I had highlighted.

*rage*

I've been using this procedure since the 1990s, why has it been discarded.

I'll try again on a PC when I return (2 hours or so)

Still on a Mac: try right-click and Copy, then a Paste box appears, Select and an "error" box appears

Because of your browser security settings, the editor is not able to access your clipboard data directly. You are required to paste it again in this window.

Please paste inside the following box using the keyboard (Ctrl/Cmd+V) and hit OK

Something odd has happened to the formatting (when I was trying to box the error message). All I can add to the error message is that this NEVER happens anywhere else.

My security settings are "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons" "Block reported attack sites" and "Block reported web forgeries" all selected. Strikes me as pretty ordinary.

IF the software means PRIVACY settings they are "tell sites that I do not want to be tracked" and "private browsing mode"

I still don't understand why Copy from a right click differes from the same command from a keyboard. *grumpy*

Here I am at Ascot. Today, I am trying, using Opera (mini or micro or whatever) - See more at: http://www.lotus7.club/forum/test-area/copy-and-paste-test#sthash.Zrzt3Btz.dpuf

Here am I on a PC.

Highlight, right click, copy, move and right click,  Paste option appears then the same error message box.
Again, from my PC this does NOT happen anywhere else.

Here my settings are uch the same.
Security: as above
Privacy: I don't want to be tracked. But here I allow history and downloads to be remembered (but discard everything when I close Firefox), I never accept 3rd party cookies

I still can not make CMD+C followed by CMD+V work.

Nor the obvious alternative of highlight - right click Copy - move - right click paste.

Android L issue, in that the meaning of their pictograms are unclear (or ineffective). It is also unclear to me what different duration of contact with the screen

The scissors are obviously "cut", but which is "paste" I can not work out.
