X-flow noisy rocker gear

G'day fellow seven mechanics, my x-flow, with unleaded head conversion, a la Roger King, also has steel rocker posts, shaft and solid spacers, but I am concerned about the amount of end float the rocker fingers have along the shaft, No.1 finger is about .010", then No.2 and No.3 have about .040" play, this figure repeated for the other fingers, except No.8, which again measures about .010", not good to my mind, or do I worry unnecessarily, anybody got any info on the correct rocker finger end float / clearance?, I'm sure all this play is making the already noisy motor sound worse, thanks for your help, best regards Nigel.
