Guest
Anyone...? I'm kinda stuck here as the car just died whilst I was out on a blat in the middle of nowhere....
mav
is it a proximity type device? assuming you have power check the ariel is close enough to the fob to 'read' it
Guest
It just died mid blat. Now it won't do anything when I press the start button-this usually makes the red light flash quickly then you can mobilise the car. Right now, nothing happens when I press the start button. My stack dash rev needle is stuck at 4k, engine is off but the immobiliser red light is blipping away. I know there is a way to bypass the immobiliser as it happened to friend of mines r300d... ChrisC
All the wires are black so bypassing is going to be tricky (by design). ☹️. Double check your master switch then call the breakdown cover of your choice ☹️
Ian B
Have you checked the inertia switch hasn't been triggered? (and if there is an easy way to bypass the immobiliser, please don't publish it on here! )
Guest
How do I check the inertia switch has been triggered? It could be that...?
Grubbster
Not exactly sure where it is on your car but normally under the bonnet, on the bulkhead by the scuttle, passenger side. Rubber capped switch thing, you press in the rubber cap with your thumb to switch it back on
Roadsport06
Under the bonnet on bulkhead is a large black rubberised button. Press that in. Mine is by the battery

Roadsport06
Any luck with that?
Harbinger
This may not help much but... An immobiliser only stops the car starting. If the engine stopped running the problem lies elsewhere.

An active or faulty immobiliser can prevent fuel pump being enabled but once it is enabled it'll stay that way, the immobiliser only gets involved on start up. Guest
Nope still waiting for them. The car literally died.,, but... The horn works. I've a 12v master switch and that doesn't reset anything when I switch it off and on again. The inertia switch wasn't triggered. The stack dash needle got stuck at the time of death at 4k rpm and is still there, but the immobiliser red light is flashing slowly as it normally would. However, when you press the start button, nothing happens. No lights work either. Edited by - Roadracer1977 on 2 Aug 2014 22:48:
Mavic82
May just be worth checking all the fuses are ok and none of the relays have worked loose? Failing that hope the RAC can get to you in a reasonable time.

Guest
Was an indicator blowing the 10amp electric fuse. Home now... Finally-cheers for your input all
Martin J
Glad you found the reason but it seems strange a short with the indicators would knock out the engine electrics, I would have thought they would have been on there own circuit. Also might be worth checking with caterham but I read somewhere that the 10amp fuse that blew (fuel pump fuse??) needs to be replaced with a larger one to stop nuisance failure.
