rynicolson
Took Mutley for the MOT (passed 😬) but once on ramp noted the lower, left (nearside) - just above oil filter - bolt missing from the mount fixing to the block.. was concerned it had sheared after my sump damage last year, but everything appears ok and it just seems to have "rattled out"... so can someone tell me the length / diameter of the bolt... is it SS or coated steel etc. Thanks in advance. Mankee
The assembly guide for K-series cars states M10 x 30 mm bolts for the LH engine mount bracket.
Support Team Shaun_E Posted July 28, 2014 Support Team Share Posted July 28, 2014 Bolts are High Tensile steel capheads and I recommend plenty of loctite. They do tend to vibrate free regularly, especially on high revving engines. The manual says tighten to 25lbft.

rynicolson
Hi BC advice team... so should the bolts be hex topped or round heads with hex insert... what is the OEM design (I know what I have on the other engine mounts)
mav
cap heads - round tops that have a hex internal pattern.
Stationary M25 Traveller
By round heads ..... he means like a small piston .... not button head which is domed like a mushroom (or a dome !) CharlesElliott
They do tend to rattle out. Check that they don't bottom out in the block. Use plenty of Loctite and/or (as I resorted to in the end) Nord-Lock washers to keep them in.
Myles
I found that slightly-longer bolts were useful as my mounts don't line up perfectly - longer bolts allowed me more flexibility to wiggle the engine in 3D to get the bolts into the mounts in the first place...
