hmmm... I think so...

 

A universal chassis - post 96 - have the gearbox mounting plate that takes the 5 speed box and 4 speed. The chassis can take both a x/flow or a VX, the VX just sits further back, has a shorter input shaft and therefore a shorter bellhousing/no spacer plate.... so in theory I think that means the gearbox is the bit which is fixed relative to the chassis and the engines just move accordingly.

 

but - I do say THINK......
