Prop shaft grease line

Guest

Recommended Posts

I was under the car today checking the bolts are tight, which they weren't. Anyway, I noticed a line of what appears to be grease near the joints of the prop. There is a photograph on my blog. The brown is dinitrol which I applied prior to starting the build. The black doesn't appear to be from the gearbox and as both ends of the prop have the same line it does seem to be related to the prop.

Quoting AndrewB:
I didn't see any nipples. Not sure what that means.

How do you add grease if there are no grease nipples there and when would you add more grease?

When I fitted my Sadev seq. Gearbox last winter I changed my propshaft for the propshaft Caterham is selling for R500D with seq. Gearbox.

When I received this new propshaft I was not able to notice any difference with my existing propshaft (same diametier, same UJ size...) except that there are no nipples on the new one.

Thanks everyone. If they are sealed for life units and I have grease splatter on my tunnel are the UJ's going to, well, run out of grease?
