J.R.
Have two bike engined Caterhams, the one I converted has a 3.38 diff. The other was geared for the ring and has a lower ratio (approx) 3.2 Is this the correct ratio (i.e. 10 tooth to 32 tooth) or does anyone know the exact ratio and CWP tooth count? Was fitted to a few Sierra Diesels and possibly automatic estates. I want to get the exact figure to calibrate the stack dash
Chelspeed
I've been told the two rare diffs are 3.38 and 3.14. Doing some sums would suggest 35 and 11 as the most likely culprits. Do you really need this level of accuracy, surely the errors in tyre circumference will be far more significant than the difference between 3.14 and 3.18? I always push it along for one full rotation of the tyre and measure this for a start point. Then fine tune it using a GPS once I get going. STEVE GILBERT
The Ford manual says: 3,14 CW47-Pin15 3,38 CW44-Pin13 and for the record 3,62 CW47-Pin13 3,92 CW51-Pin13 3,77 CW49-Pin13 6.5 inch diff Book also says 3,38 fitted to 1,6 OHC ECO 5 speed 3,38 fitted to 2,0 OHC HC 3,38 fitted to 2.3 v6 ESTATE 3,14 fitted to 1,6 OHC ECO 4 speed 3,14 fitted to 2.3 v6 SALOON 3.14 fitted to 2.3 Diesel If the tags are still on they should say the ratio. J.R.
Thanks people! Chelspeed, I agree about setting speedo from rolling circumference, I was more concerned about what speed equated to max revs. I have also E-mailed you regarding tunnel cover
N Blandin
Sorry to hijack your thread,JR. Is there a lower(higher numerically) diff ratio available? I had a 4.1 and a 4.5 for my old live axle but seem to be stuck a 3.9 with a de dion.
STEVE GILBERT
Felix' The posted info relates to the pre facelifted Sierras although there is a newer Workshop manual that covers the later cars, you could try to obtain from your Library which is how I got my copy HTH See My Zetec Power 7 Here
Marius
Nigel, you can get a 4.11 & a 4.44 for the DeDion 7" Diff easily, SBD is doing even a 4.7-something as far as I know. VERY short.... Marius [/hijack-mode off]
