Ivaan
Hi, I've been told that because my car is a Q plate, I can legally have Black & White plates, with the front over the nosecone, but I'd like to double check. It's something to do with Q plate cars being treated as if they are prior to 1978?? Can anyone confirm, or know where to find the regs? Thanks, Clive
Roadru77er
I'm pretty sure Q plates have to be yellow/white with black letters not white on black certainly don't recall seeing too many "old style" Q plates. Non reflective plates can only be fitted to pre 1973 vehicles.
MarcNS
I would be interested to know when the Q plate first came out?

Jonathan Kay
This area on the GOV.UK site. The input data to the logic that you'll need are: * Date of first registration * Date of vehicle manufacture. I don't know what the second of these means if you have a "Q" plate.
