poolec7
I've asked before, but need to ask again. I'm replacing my CR322 tyres on my ex-academy 7. I compete at Loton in Class 2(Roadgoing specialist production cars). I need some better rubber for hillclimbing, occasional sprinting and road use.................what can you recommend? Tyres are 185/70 R13. I would consider an different size as long as it doesn't involve modifying the wings! Thanks

Area Representative Richard Price Posted June 18, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted June 18, 2014 Quoting poolec7: and road use How much road use? I use supersoft Kumho V70A's. Whilst they would be utterly useless as track day tyre, if you're using them on the road, and don't drive like a lunatic, I'm sure they would last several thousand miles. If the car is still in academy spec, then Kumho 175/60-13's all around would work well (in soft compound as the 175's are not available in SS) The ride height will be a little lower. If you were to go for the medium or hard compound tyres on a hillclimb, they would not start to work very well until after the last corner...... Support Team Shaun_E Posted June 18, 2014 Support Team Share Posted June 18, 2014 We used to get 6000 miles a year from super soft compound Kumho V70A including a full season of sprint/hillclimb dual driven. The road use had negligible impact. I have used soft compound R888 and they are not as good. My current setup means we don't get a whole season out of a set of Kumho but we do have 260bhp and an aggressive geometry setup. ZZR are popular in A24 compound but I've not tried them. david nelson
I am an Avon Man, No its not Avon calling but ZZR in A24 are a great sprint and hill climb tyre. I prefer them to the Kumho's and they work well for me. I also tend to leave them on the car for any road work. As Richard posted as long as your sensible on the road most tyres will last. David Avon's all the way
