Where can I find LSD spare parts?

Guest

Recommended Posts

The LSD of my R500 is totally worn.

The clutches are gone, and I need to replace the oil seals also.

I believe that my LSD is quaife (in a Ford box). Where can I find spare parts for it?

Quaife says they know nothing about it... and Caterham doesn't answer...

Any idea?

Have you checked exactly what type of diff you have? What are the symptoms? Phil will likely be able to tell you what's wrong and how to fix it.

Best bet is, once you've had a chat, to post it to him *thumbup*

P.S. Caterham won't answer today and nor will Phil, as it is a public holiday *wavey*

Symptoms are that I opened it and the clutches are gone :)

When I were turning it made a lot of noise and blocked the diff all the time.

I believe it's a quaife diff. But I have no idea how to check it.

SM25T I see, but poor Roberto speaks poor English and is not going to understand what R&R says on the phone... I'll keep it as last chance...

by the way, if it's Holiday in UK I don't need to struggle, I will just be patient till Tomorrow :)

and if I will get an out of office reply from Darren, I will phone to R&R :D

The Quaife is a torque-biasing type of diff, so only gears.

It may be that you have a ZF or Tran-X or Titan diff. Possibly some other brands. They are all clutch type LSDs and fit in the Ford 7" diff. If you post up some pictures, someone might be able to identify what sort of diff you have.

1) Thank you all for the info

2) Update:

Darren answered, and he redirected me to Road & Race Transmission :)

I will take some pics and post them here as soon as I possible!

If this diff is fitted to an R500 K series it is likely to have a ZF LSD and unfortunately they are no longer made and I am not sure parts are available. Phil at Road and Race will know and if it needs to be replaced then I recommend you fit a Titan plate LSD. I fitted the Titan to my R500 K and it worked well *thumbup*
