Wile7
I have just fitted clear lenses with chrome bulbs. Brake/light units are really poor brightness....indicator bulbs are fine. Have I got a duff pair or are they like this (in which case I'll get some red dual filament units)? Dave
Member Jonathan Kay Posted May 14, 2014 Member Share Posted May 14, 2014 I don't think anyone has found a brilliant source. Please can you identify yours so they can go in the "Avoid" tray. Thanks Jonathan
Bob L
Are these chromed stop tail lights? I use LED's. Lots of threads on this. Still not the brightest though and need work on the reflectors.
Wile7
Thanks both - these were an Ebay purchase here I must make it clear though that I am not wanting to 'damn' the seller here. Quick delivery etc and the product does work - they are just not as bright as I had hoped on the 'lights' setting. Brake performance is better (lighting that is 😬). Indicator bulbs fine (different supplier actually....). Might try another source.... Dave
Member Jonathan Kay Posted May 14, 2014 Member Share Posted May 14, 2014 Did you think about LEDs? From what I can glean from the other threads: * Bright enough * Angle of illumination now OK * May need to change flasher unit for indicators, but there's a recommended cheap one * Probably not legal/ compliant with regulations etc Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 14 May 2014 12:48:
Bob L
These are a straight swap but as stated, you may wish to enhance the reflector: 380LED60SBR-2 380 Super Bright 60 LED Brake and Tail Bulb Options: Pack Size: Pair Colour: Red Approx £22 Autobulbsdirect.co.uk I think you'll find them better but nothing seems as good a plain filament bulb within the std CC coloured lens. So not the best upgrade I’ve done.
Nigel R300
You could also fit a high level LED brake light on the roll bar
ChrisC
I have a "Red" Chrome bulb for my fog light, I have to say the results aren't very red, more pink. Its ok for a fog light I am never going to use, but for brake lights I want a bit more red. The orange chrome bulbs I have for indicators are also a bit weak. I am glad I have the half and half white and red rear lights from the bulk buy.
