Steve Robinson
I'm looking to sprint my SLR next year and have noticed that my harnesses have an expiry date of 2002, do I need new ones before I compete or does it not matter??? Thanks in advance. Robbo
Rob Walker
AFAIK the date only applies if you want to race the car.
Alex Wong1697456877
You don't need new harnesses if you're sprinting in the road going classes. Not sure about other classes.
Colin Grundy
Good luck with the sprints next year Steve. If you wants a general dogsbody anytime, give us a call. Happy New Year Colin
stevefoster
I'm in the same boat but for club racing. The 2002 MSA blue book under Q2 does not seem to make a specific statement on dating of belts. It talks about FIA homologation and carrying a label for 4 and 6 point belts. I am pretty sure that many clubracers I know have not had to change belts and their belts are older than mine. I think the dating applies to International events but I could be wrong of course. /Steve My racing pics, 7 DIY, race prep. Chelspeed
I agree, speed events in the UK do not require belts to be in date. Scrutineers will just check they are a complete set (ie not lap belt from sabelt, shoulder strap from Luke or whatever), not frayed, release mechanism works etc etc. I think the dates only apply to events organised directly under FIA rules (rather than MSA rules, even though MSA is affiliated to FIA....).
