callumskeat
Can I please ask if anyone has fitted a non Caterham High level brake light (LED type?) to their Seven and how you break into the wiring loom to power it? Grateful for any wisdom here? 🤔 Regards Callum
Stationary M25 Traveller
48-LED unit from CBS online (about £14). Caterham sell a sub loom for about £9. You simply unplug the connector between fuel tank and offside wing (under car) and plug the sub loom into the two halves. This gives you a twin cable for brake light. Simples. Edited by - SM25T on 18 Apr 2014 15:57:

Member Jonathan Kay Posted April 18, 2014 Member Share Posted April 18, 2014 (Crossed post) There's lots in the archives on high level brake lights, including the lights people like and how to run the wiring. It isn't hard to wire but you might want to consider the Caterham subloom that does most of the work for you.  Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 18 Apr 2014 15:57:

Ozzy
You need something like Dave Allen's or a shrouded round one. Don't bother with the striplight type, as you can't see them in sunlight. Oz.
Stationary M25 Traveller
The 48 LED is fine ...... make sure you fix it under roll bar so the LED face rearwards parallel to the road.
Martin J
I have the 48 LED one. I have had three didn't types over the years each brighter than the one before. I first saw the 48 one on Mike Clarks car & thought blimey that is bright, even in sunlight so that's why I changed to it. It has to be a no brainer fitting one to a caterham. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted April 18, 2014 Leadership Team Share Posted April 18, 2014 I have this slimline version from Car Builder Solutions, very easy to fit to the rear edge of the rollbar and VERY BRIGHT even in strong sunlight! Easiest way to wire it is to buy the Caterham high level brake light loom. Stu. Edited by - sforshaw on 18 Apr 2014 20:35:

RedCat7
Newer cars don't even need a sub-loom. Spade connectors can be found at the back right bottom corner if the chassis. At least that was the case on my 2011 SV.

Stu_I
First upgrade on my 7 was the CBS 48-LED light. Very easy to do and you need the light from CBS and the brake light jumper from Caterham.  Connect the jumper in place, crimp wires to the brake light and attach light to the roll bar via tie straps or black silicone.  I have notes on it when I did it if you want them.  Edited to add mine is a 2003 SV. Stu Edited by - Stu_I on 19 Apr 2014 05:50:
