Anvil wanted

Strange request I know but I'm looking for a blacksmiths anvil to enable me to do a bit of forging of green woodworking tools.

 

I live in the Surrey area of the UK if that helps.

Like hens teeth!

 

We sell 20 to 30 a year but new ones. They seldom come up second hand.

 

Do a search for Vaughans, one of the few companies still supplying them but expect to Pay £200 + for a 25kg one without a stand.

My father in Law has just passed away which was very bad news for us.

 

However, there's an Anvil in his garage.

If you're going to use it a lot, try and buy the biggest you can afford. I have a 2cwt (102kg) anvil and you can use it for almost anything, I had a smaller one and it used to jump around when used for heavier work.

 

Sounds like you should contact Boris, or failing that ebay is probably the best bet.
