Roger Ford
What's the point of the fiddly little spring clips that sit on top of the pads in a standard Sierra-type rear caliper? Are they purely anti-chatter shims that can be safely left out, or do they actually do something important? Thanks. Jonathan Kay
They are officially called anti-rattle clips, but that's not quite identical with saying they don't do anything else... are you going to find out for us experimentally? Stationary M25 Traveller
Does it mean you have lost one ?
Roger Ford
No, it means I forgot to fit and I'm wondering whether I have to take them apart again to put it in.
ECR
Took mine out years ago. Probably useful in a quiet tin top but in our cars ........
FramerateUK
My car has them on one side but not the other - I guess they've either fallen off or the previous owner forgot to re-fit them. Keep meaning to re-order a set, but I can't say I've noticed much need for them. the pads aren't going to move from the caliper. I do get a little squeal occasionally. I find trackdays tend to resolve that though ;) Edited by - FramerateUK on 31 Mar 2014 17:23:
Z3MCJez
Roger - I ran without them for about 3 years and it was fine. However, now I have pads without the springs, to allow them to move easier, and I've got these back in again to help with location. I say that, of course, but I didn't change my pads last time!
