Apollo tanks and oil

Recommended Posts

I am about to fit an apollo tank to the se7en (at last)

As I was pondering this task over breakfast this morning I wondered if and by how much the tank would cool the oil as it passes through. Has anyone ever tried to make a heat sink for the apollo tank to cool the oil?

I guess the oil isn't in the tank for long enough to transfer heat very effectively ..... oh well, idol wonderings!

I would say that as an oil cooler it has some, though limited, use in that role. Bear in mind that it is sat in the radiatior draft so it's not getting pure cold air playing over it. I use a Laminova unit in conjunction with the Apollo and get much quicker warm up time for the oil + very steady water/oil temps in normal/warmed up use. *thumbup*

Alex,

Like Chris says why don't you try one of those oil/water cooler that Mocal make will cool the oil when hot and heat it when cool - means you can start using the engine a bit sooner 😬.

That may mean you have to buy the uprated radiator as well but then that's upgraditus.

Have a good christmas.
