Peter Mears
Switch says 12v 15a caterham online parts give 2002 upwards and looks like 250w 10a Will this work with my 89 car and/or should I just go to halfords. Cheers P
revilla
I'm sure it should work fine, as will one from Halfords - the one from Caterham may be a better cosmetic match for you other switches though. However I suspect they "2002 onwards" will just relate to change in design, so they may not match any better anyway, in which case Halfords will probably be a cheaper and quicker solution! Peter Mears
Thanks Halfords it is then. Had to stick my arm out of the door flap yesterday to turn right, made me smile 😬
Mick Day
What did you do for left turns? By-the-way YHM!

Paul Deslandes
I'm showing my age but when I learnt to drive there was a hand signal for turning left, involving sticking your right arm out of the window and rotating it anticlockwise (the arm, not the window). If I did it now they'd probably take my licence away 😬
Peter Mears
Well I do know the left hand signal as well but as it happens it was only the right side of the switch that was playing up. BTW halfords switches are carp, but it will do for now.

Roger Ford
Scrutineer at Thruxton wasn't impressed when he wanted to check my brake lights and I stuck my arm out and waved it up and down.
Paul Deslandes
excellent 😬, I'd forgotten the slowing down hand signal. Are any of them still in the Highway Code? Edited by - Paul Deslandes on 13 Mar 2014 12:44:
Jonathan Kay
Has anyone ever used the signals through the windscreen to tell a traffic controller where you want to go? Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 13 Mar 2014 13:03:

Baz Hemsley
Not forgetting the whip signal. Hand straight up and draw a circle in the air. Often used on blats to indicate turn round, we are going the wrong blooming way again.
andy couchman
Actually Jonathan I do! When I took my driving test (1970) I'm sure hand signals were still part of the test too. There are of course other hand signals not shown in your link... 😳 Andy
Paul Deslandes
I took mine in '64 which means (Mon Dieu) I've been driving for 50 years and I'll have to reapply for a licence in less than three years time We couldn't wait to start and many of my age group had their first driving lesson on their 17th birthday. Now, with the cost of insurance and everything else associated with owning a car, many kids don't bother until they're in their mid twenties, if then.
