paul.davis
Great news Octagon have given us dates for : Cadwell Park Full Circuit 6th May (immediately following the Stoneleigh INTERNATIONAL weekend 4/5th May) Oulton Park International 1st July Brands GP (!!) September 23rd . . . a real coup for the club - thanks to your Blatchat thread and pleading letters 😬 These circuits, plus Silverstone Virgins on 1st March, and Dijon Prenois, Magny Cours Club and GP and Mas du Clos on Le Sept, is B****y good going for members considering the year hasn't started yet!! Dont forget to renew your membership - and start counting down!!! 😬 😬 😬 There really is a little "But" because Octagon seem to be insisting on BSI 6658 Type A or UN ECE 22.05 helmets in their "Terms and Conditions" for 2003. This will apply to any Trackday organiser not just the Club. I am trying to widen this to include SNELL SA 95 and 2000 (higher spec so no brainer if you pardon the pun) and ACU Goldstamp spec motorbike helmets (more tricky), but if any of you are going shopping in the sales for a helmet watch this space first - play safe and buy a BSI or wait for feedback on Snell and ACU Goldstamp 😳 Paul Zeeeeeeetec . . . . . . robmar
paul - great news on the circuits do you know what is behind the helmet requirements, I can understand it being a good idea, but find it a bit odd that it doesn't include the snell ratings...so would they ban racers with snell rated helmets 🤔 Ho wabout asking them if they would be happy with helmets that have passed a scruteneer and with an appropriate sticker saying it was approved for motor sports, or what ever they say... rob
paul.davis
Working on clarification with Octagon - I think Snell must be an oversight Paul Zeeeeeeetec . . . . . .
paul.davis
*smile*Good sense prevails at Octagon. They have granted Lotus Seven Club written approval for Helmet specs meeting Snell SA 95 and 2000, and ACU Goldstamp Helmets as well as their standard terms of BSI 6658 Type A and UN ECE 22.05. 😬 Static Noise limit 108 db at Oulton, other circuits to confirm if 105 or 108 applies. Things are looking good. *cool* Will advise on prices soon but we aim to be "as good as any and better than most" covering costs, assuming a high turnout, so please send those forms in when they appear in Low Flying in FEB (Cadwell), APRIL(Oulton) and JUNE (Brands GP) . . . Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 17, 2002 Leadership Team Share Posted December 17, 2002 Paul, don't know how good your persuasive powers are within the club, but please have a go at arranging to send out the copies of Low Flying heading northwards approx a week before everybody else's. We're only a half hour north of Oulton (that's back and beyond to most of you - paradise to us lot) but most of our copies of the club mag were a week later than those in some areas. Not bothered over Christmas, but going to be well p"£$%d off if dates are full before we see the forms. We can live in hope ........... Stu. paul.davis
Update on Noise for the Lotus Seven Club (only) at Octagon Circuits will be 108db static at Oulton and Cadwell (usually 105 for tin tops) 105db at Brands GP Octagon have been pretty good on this (unlike Bedford I hear) so you now know what to expect on both helmets and noise! 😬 😬 Paul Zeeeeeeetec . . . . . . Area Representative z7 Posted January 9, 2003 Area Representative Share Posted January 9, 2003 Can we, please, have clarification on the date for Brands GP? This thread states September 23rd but Low Flying lists October 13th. Thanks Adil
Jude
Brands Hatch GP can now be confirmed as the 23rd September. Date in Low Flying was the provisional date when Low Flying went to press. The booking forms for the club track day at Cadwell Park on the 6th May will be in February's Low Flying. Cost of entry will be £140 per car and one driver. Noise limit of 108db will apply at Cadwell Dont forget that this track day sold out within 4 days in 2002 so get those entry forms in quick.
