Dave Rothwell
Whats the best practice glue for sticking rubber to carbon. I have bought some rubber piping same type as used around the rear wings and am about to stick to the leading edge of a carbon aero. Hope not a dumb question - I'm sure there will be something that does the job really well, Many thanks daveR
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted January 25, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted January 25, 2014 Don't do it. Use some sticky back foam. I'll bring some.
ChrisC
I like Zap Goo, it's like super glue, but always remains flexible, and can be peeled off with no damage to either surface. I used to use it to stick connector plugs together on my RC helicopters, so it had to be strong but removable without any damage. Guest
On a similar note. Do people glue the trim onto the cycle wings or just push fit it on? Thanks in advance.
Grubbster
For IVA it has to be fitted securely - they may well give any bits of rubber trim a little tug to make sure it is properly fixed. I used superglue on mine.
BigCol
Quoting Grubbster: I used superglue on mine. Me too...
7 wonders of the world
For IVA I tacked mine every 6" and then at the ends with clear silicone, post IVA I binned the trims and rolled the silicone off wth my thumb and a wonderwipe.
