Flywheel / Clutch query - Vaux XE

I'm in the process of switching from 8v Vaux to the 2.0 16v.

 

The original fly wheel on the car is a 6 bolt fitting but the XE is 8 bolt. We managed to find an alternative clutch to fit with the XE flywheel but this flywheel is alot thicker than the original and having bolted the engine in it looks like the flywheel maybe fouling the bell housing.

 

Does anyone have any experience of this issue?

 

Is it a case of buying a smaller flywheel with 8 bolt fitting or perhaps welding and redrilling the original one from the 8v? What about grinding down the bell housing.

 

Any thoughts / advice much appreciated.
