I have just changed my HT leads and lost track of were they go in the Distributor cap

Can you advise?

I beleive the Firing order on the cylinders are from the Radiator 1 2 4 3

The 7 is a 1989 ford xflow 1700 with a brown Distributor cap which has 4 lead sockets which all are horizontal in a half moon configuration ie

o o

o o o

Firing order is 1,3,4,2. with the engine rotating clockwise viewed from the front.

The distributor rotor rotates anti-clockwise due to the spur gear.

This results in the conflict of views.

Looking at the dizzy cap it is 1,3,4,2 in the correct ANTI-CLOCKWISE rotation

Or 1,2,4,3 if you choose to look at it in the incorrect clock-wise direction.

As mentioned before with the crank at TDC on cylinder one the engine could be on the firing stroke of both cylinders 1 and 4, look at the valves on the opposite cylinder to confirm. Rocking on one = firing on four and vice-versa

What an up-cock.

JR says 1342 and Roger 1243.

I guess Roger should know!

Indeed, it doesn't really matter as the same firing interval on the crank is present in either case.

Oh well. I checked the www today and there are several engines whose firing order is 1243.

I am surprised to learn that there is an X-flow engine with, 1-3-4-2 Firing order. Thanks to Roger King.

Going back to the point, the firing order of Cross flow engines are 1-2-4-3 ! God, how many times have I said this~~~~. *eek*

This rather obious fact is re~~~y making a stir. Its ~~~ your fault Steve! 😬

~~~ standard 1.7 X-flow
